Originally from Valenovac, CROATIA, Ivan Nagy (b. 1939) and his family were displaced persons during WWII. Fleeing communism and their wartorn homeland, the Nagy family settled in Salzburg, AUSTRIA, where they remained until 1951. When the opportunity was granted to emigrate to the United States of America, the Nagy's made the move and became naturalized citizens. Ivan was the youngest of three boys and continued his liberal arts education in Davenport, Iowa, where he received a degree in mathematics education and physics. He taught in the Davenport Public Schools until his retirement in 1997. Currently he resides near Walcott, Iowa, and enjoys restoring antique phonographs, collecting music of obscure composers, and composing music of his own.
